1. Acknowledgement of Inherent Risks
I understand that horses are unpredictable animals and that equine activities involve inherent risks that cannot be eliminated regardless of the care taken by Silver Saddle Stables, located at 1900 Riverside Dr. Glendale, CA 91201, its owners, employees, instructors, volunteers, contractors, or agents (Silver Saddle Stables).
These risks include, but are not limited to:
● Horses biting, kicking, bucking, rearing, bolting, stumbling, or otherwise behaving unpredictably.
● Falls from horses.
● Being stepped on, crushed, pinned, or struck by a horse.
● Equipment or tack failure.
● Uneven terrain, mud, rocks, holes, gates, fences, water crossings, wildlife, insects, weather conditions, and natural hazards.
● Actions of other riders, participants, spectators, or horses.
● Negligence of other participants.
● Serious injury, permanent disability, emotional distress, property damage, or death.
I acknowledge that no amount of instruction or supervision can completely eliminate these inherent risks.
2. Voluntary Participation
I voluntarily choose to participate in activities at Silver Saddle Stables, including but not limited to:
Horseback riding lessons (mounted and unmounted), groundwork, grooming, tacking and untacking, leading horses, feeding, barn chores, clinics, camps, trail rides, volunteer activities, horse handling, educational programs, and any other equine-related activities conducted on or off the property. I understand participation is voluntary and I may stop at any time.
3. Assumption of Risk
I knowingly and voluntarily assume all risks associated with participation in equine activities, including both known and unknown risks, whether foreseeable or unforeseeable. I accept full responsibility for my own safety and agree that participation is at my own risk.
4. Release of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by California law, I release, waive, and discharge Silver Saddle Stables, its owners, officers, managers, employees, instructors, volunteers, contractors, affiliates, and agents from any and all claims, demands, causes of action, damages, losses, or liabilities arising out of or related to my participation in equine activities, except to the extent prohibited by applicable law.
This release applies to personal injury, illness, property damage, disability, or death.
5. Indemnification
I agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Silver Saddle Stables from any claims, lawsuits, damages, costs, or attorney's fees arising from my actions, the actions of any minor under my supervision, or my failure to follow facility rules or staff instructions.
6. Safety Rules:
● Follow all instructions given by Silver Saddle Stables staff.
● Never approach or handle a horse without permission from Silver Saddle Stables staff.
● Wear appropriate footwear with a closed toe and defined heel while around horses.
● Wear long pants appropriate for equine activities.
● Never run, yell, or engage in unsafe behavior around horses.
● Report unsafe conditions immediately.
● Treat horses and fellow participants respectfully.
● Never use drugs or alcohol before or during participation.
Failure to follow safety rules may result in immediate removal from the property without refund.
8. Medical Treatment Authorization
In the event of an emergency, I authorize Silver Saddle Stables to obtain emergency medical care on my behalf if I am unable to consent. I understand I am solely responsible for all medical expenses incurred.
9. Health Disclosure
I certify that I am physically able to participate in equine activities. I have disclosed any medical condition, allergy, physical limitation, or medication that may affect my safety or the safety of others.
10. Personal Property
Silver Saddle Stables is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged personal property.
11. California Law
This Agreement shall be governed by the laws of the State of California. If any provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.
Photography & Media Release
Unless I notify Silver Saddle Stables in writing, I grant permission for photographs or videos of me (or my minor child) taken during activities to be used for promotional, educational, or social media purposes without compensation.
Helmet Policy
Silver Saddle Stables requires the use of an ASTM/SEI-certified riding helmet whenever mounted. Helmet use is required for all minors at all times unless otherwise permitted by law and facility policy. I understand that wearing a helmet reduces—but does not eliminate—the risk of serious head injury or death.
ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
I certify that I have carefully read this entire Agreement. I understand its contents. I understand tha I am giving up certain legal rights by signing. I have had the opportunity to ask questions. I am signing this release voluntarily and without coercion.
Parent or Legal Guardian (Required for Participants Under 18)
I certify that I am the parent or legal guardian of the above-named minor.
I consent to the minor's participation and agree to all terms of this Agreement on behalf of the minor and myself.
